Rondelles or country onions are also known as olum, bobimbi, country onions. These hazelnuts are oval in shape, hence the name “rondelle”, from a tropical forest plant, they are dried after harvesting, and their shells are removed before use, in Cameroon they are used as a spice and in traditional medicine.
Its aroma is powerful and pleasant, somewhat similar to that of garlic, hence its name garlic tree. Afrostyrax lepidophyllus is a species of flowering plant in the Huaceae family. It occurs in Cameroon, Gabon and Ghana. According to some studies, Afrostyrax lepidophyllus bark extract has shown pest repellent activity.
It comes from a 20 m tall, straight tree from the forest in Ghana and Cameroon and Congo (Brazzaville). The tree, leaves and fruit have a strong odor resembling onion or garlic which is particularly strong. It would be ideal to settle the stomach to avoid bloating after eating beans.
